Interview
Jake: Hi Busty - you claim to be a graphics man... why? (Ironic or what?)
Bustman: Ey man, who said I am CLAIMING to be a graphician? In fact I am one, believe it or not. And then you ask why... do you want to hear the full story right from the beginning or what? Ok, it started at the very moment when I was about three years old and touched my first pencil. I felt it immediately, it stroke my mind that I was borned to draw. And so it went on, I drawed by hand on everything I could get between my fingers. When I was about twelve or so I bought myself a computer, a Commodore 128 actually. I continued drawing on that machine, but I always felt helpless because of the limitations. And then I discovered the world of Amiga, totally amazing in the opposite to a C64. Ofcourse I bought myself an Amiga as soon as I had enough money, and through this way I became a graphician on this wonderful piece of hardware. Additionally I should tell that in these three years that I have had my good old Amiga, I have learned that only practise makes master. This goes both for coding, music and graphics. I have still yet more to learn and experience, I guess.
Jake: Who do you think should be in charge of the Norwegian government and why?
Bustman: Argh, who mentioned politics? Jake, what a question! Well, personally I hate every single shithead of all politicians we have here in our dear homecountry Norway. They are just preaching bullshit and allmighty about what they are going to do, but never comes down to some real action. If somebody was to be in charge of the Norwegian government it should have been ourselves, Crusaders. Then everybody would have had an unlimited beer-supply... Joking, allright! No, I do not have an answer to your question. I guess the readers do not care about politics anyway.
Jake: Say, how many members are Crusaders actually? (Too many?)
Bustman: Nope, I do not think we have a lot of members. Some people may have other opinions, but we never kick out anybody. If you join Crusaders, you have come to stay as long as you want. We are a group based on pure friendship between all members, nothing else! Ok, we are at this very moment 22 members. Dudes, anybody asking for a memberlist? Right, here it comes... alphabetical and everything... Brightblade ..... swapper, not active Bustman ......... graphician, swapper Copper .......... coder Dr.Awesome ...... musician Dr.Claw ......... coder Dr.Outtasight ... sysop at our 'Home Sweet Home' board Dr.Shitface ..... coder, swapper ECS ............. swapper El Cubo ......... coder Eno ............. coder Excalibur ....... coder Fleshbrain ...... musician Funky Guru ...... graphician Intec ........... graphician Lazerbrain ...... mainswapper Madman .......... coder Raven ........... sysop at our 'Golden Gate' board Rusc ............ graphician Swapperboy ...... swapper Switchblade ..... coder, plus some gfx Zapotek ......... swapper Zuggly .......... coder This should be the lot of it. Nothing more, nothing less. And all of them are some really freaky guys, you bet!
Jake: Dr.Awesome is probably one of the most known Amiga sound artists out there - what do you think about his works?
Bustman: What I think of his work? Well, his music is just MEGA. I just can not explain in words what I think of him as a musician, he is far beyond the incredible. And note, I am neither saying this because I am a friend of him nor because we are in the same group. This is my personal opinion, and if you agree or not is up to you.
And hey, my fellow Jakie-boy, why did you not mention Fleshbrain? He is just as good as Dr.Awesome, although he has his very own and special style. Fleshbrain really gets you by the teeth his tunes are enormous! So no point hiding that I just love his style too.
Well, when we are at music I must also make it clear that there are a lot of other really great musicians living on this planet. I could mention a huge bunch, but I will not. Everybody has his own view, everybody has his own taste...
Jake: Yeah Yeah I agree... Forgive me my dear Busty!!! Anyway, How long time have you been in the scene, and was it by error (-s HEHE!) that you entered?
Bustman: Hmmm.... I have been into computers for five or six years, when you add the time I had the C128. But on the Amiga, well, I have been active on it for about two years or so I guess. Yes, it is true that I entered the scene through the group called Errors. It was at that time that I really started to do some serious swapping. I joined Crusaders a year after, because I got TOO active to be a member of Errors. I wanted to do something, you know.
Jake: Okay Bustman.. Trond is your real name. How come so many Norwegian guys are called that. Is Trond some kind of a hero in Norway... like ADOLF (that was not nice) in Germany and so on?
Bustman: Listen up! Yep, I am called Trond for sure. But this name is not as much used as people want to believe, Trond is ofcourse a special name as all others. A hero? What, you got to be joking. Well, maybe there was or is a great guy called Trond somewhere here in Norway, but nothing I have heard about. And the name Trond is NOT connected with fear or such shit as the name Adolf gives. I am a cool and freaky kind of Trond!
Jake: Crusaders bring out Eurochart every second month or so, but the charts does not show your opinion. So tell us your own favourites!
Bustman: My own favourites? Jesus, I knew it would come. What would a disk-mag be without own favourites? Jake, have you remembered to vote for our Eurochart then? If so, okay, here are my good old favourites. Only a few special selected ones, though... Good groups It is really not many REAL good groups to pick out when it comes to the most SERIOUS ones. I would say Brainstorm, because they are doing a mighty fine job with Zine. Phenomena, Kefrens and Budbrain are great too when it comes to producing some real good demos. Fine graphicians I would immediately say Slash/Kefrens. His graphics is fab, I must say so. In fact, we are both using the same main technique when it comes to shading the open areas in the graphics. I would say that I was one of the first with this, but ofcourse I do not know for sure. I should like to get in touch with him, but unfortunately I do not know his address. And! There is ofcourse other good graphicians in the scene, like Golem/Anarchy and Uno/Scoopex. I can mention a lot more, but you can guess them out for yourself. Funky musicians Uncle Tom/Scoopex, Walkman/Cryptoburners, 4-Mat/Anarchy, Tip/Phenomena and so on. Also Øystein Eide/Maniacs Of Noise is real good when it comes to my style of music. Smart coders Well, no comment. There are many good ones around, but others will have to decide. Best disk-mags As stated, I would say Zine. No doubt. There are a few other nice disk-mags, but with lower standard. Coolest friends Hey up! Here is a new one... My best friends! Note, this is NO greetingslist or a list of hellos. This is just a list of my greatest friends, ok... Hans/Euphoria, Trix/Dexion, Axel/Brainstorm, Tip/Phenomena, Teeze/Anarchy, Apache/Vertigo, and ofcourse that dude interviewing me, Jake/Rebels. They deserve being listed as good friends, nice knowing you all mates! And I also could mention a kid called Flush/PMC, also a friend of mine. Tasty dinners The best meals I could ever think of are spaghetti, pancakes and real home-made pizza. Ofcourse I eat hamburgers and such fastfood, but it is just some chicken shit when compared to what you can make at home. Right? Ripping movies Well, some new good ones would be... Robocop II, Total Recall and Die Hard II. They are all great action-films, but that is not the only thing I like concerning movies. I just love horror-movies! Nothing is like a real chiller late at night, with all scary effects possible. Ofcourse there are a lot of horror-movies that are shit and crap, only based on blood and guts and nothing else. No, I am talking about REAL horror. Just to mention the best of the best, Clive Barker. Hellraiser, Hellbound and now Nightbreed... Just bloody great films. Stephen King is also one of my favourites, most of his films are just as good. And all books by the two above mentioned guys are beyond imagination, that would mean outstanding!
Jake: Everybody talk about modems, and how they destroyed the scene. What do you think, is it only a swapper syndrome?
Bustman: I have no comments on this question really, since I have never done any kind of modeming. But I guess the modem destroys the real friends that you gain by swapping through mail. When you get to modem-trading, the speed and age of the stuff gets so important that real friends seem to be forgotten. So one thing I can tell, it is not everything that goes through a modem.
Jake: Does Crusaders have any kind of slogan?
Bustman: Ofcourse we have! It goes like this... WE BRAKE FOR NOBODY! But we do not mean anything serious with it, it just there for fun. We do not use it much either, nowadays.
Jake: Who is the real legends?
Bustman: Simply the guys who deserve it. Short question demands short answer, that is it.
Jake: Any last words?
Bustman: Yeah, Jake, in fact there is. I just want to say thanks for this interview, it has been fun answering your question right from the beginning. A big hello to all the rest of my friends out there, if you read this then. And before I end, I have a final request... Vote for the Crusaders Eurochart now! Send your votes to the following address... CRUSADERS EUROCHART P.O.BOX 45 1474 NORDBYHAGEN NORWAY And if you want to contact me personally, mainly to swap some own productions, if you want to exchange some graphics, or if you simply just want to complain or ask me about anything, then make impact on this address... BUSTMAN/CRUSADERS MYRDALSKOGEN 379 5095 ULSET NORWAY
Jake: Hey Bustman... Hope you like the questiones - too ordinary?
Bustman: Listen, is this a bonus question or what! Nope, the questions were nice enough. So once again, thanks Jakie-mate!
Jake: Yep, and here I take over again. Bustman obviously wanted to make this interview incredible long, I sincerely hope that none of you out there fell asleep while reading it..... bye!!!
