Budbrain Productions
Budbrain Productions, or simply Budbrain, was the result of Danes Pshycho and Diablo teaming up. The release of their first megademo became a milestone in the history of the Amiga scene. It was unveiled to an unsuspecting audience at the RSI & TSL Amiga Conference in Glostrup, Denmark — and won the competition, leaving big groups like Silents, Flash Production and Crionics behind. Budbrain split the scene in two: lovers and haters. Loved for their easygoing approach and humorous style, and hated for their less technical effects.
Half a year later, the two madmen released their second megademo at the Dexion X-mas Conference in Odense, Denmark. Once again, they achieved a top ranking, finishing second in the demo competition — and once again leaving several major groups behind.
Four months later, at the Amiga Convention Summit in Nykøbing Falster, Denmark, Flash Production released Budbrain Megademo 3. The demo pokes fun at Psycho and Diablo’s lack of technical skills and features a long list of sceners who wanted Budbrain to change their style. Not exactly the finest hour of the Amiga scene :(
Giving Budbrain full credit for changing the Amiga scene forever would probably be an overstatement, but they certainly helped reshape the perception of the “classic demo” in the early ’90s — not least through their use of synced effects between code, graphics, and music.
