I only heard that the party was officially going ahead about 3 weeks before the date of the party, and so it was a quick rush to try and squeeze in a couple of weeks holiday from work so as to attend this party that was promising great things. Luckily I wasn't travelling all the way to Rotherham (I live in the south) just to attend the party, I had arranged to spend some time with my mates... Which made the trip that little bit more worth-while. Arriving at the party I was surprised at the door entry charge (6 English pounds) which I thought took the piss... Luckily I had already been ordered a ticket which had cost me 4 pounds. The turnout at the party place was a little poor to be honest, but I was expecting it to get a little busier during the day. Generally there was a good turnout of people that were actually worth speaking to, you know the kind of people that looked "normal". Every party that I've been to seems to be infested with these really strange people that wear "lumberjack shirts" and have quite incredible amounts of bum-fluff around their chin that would probably blow-off if they stood in a strong wind. Anyway, the place filled up a little and things could only get better... (unfortunately they didn't) Competitions that I was told would be going ahead included a quiz about scene news, a kick-off competition, a raffle, a real-time demo competition, graphics, demo, music and a tug-of-war. Only the tug-of-war, graphics, music and demo competitions went ahead. Apparently the reply Judge Drokk of Anarchy got from Number 5 of Digital about the raffle was, "Just look at the people here, is it really worth it?" I had to laugh because this made no sense, I mean, SOMEONE had to win didn't they? No matter HOW may people were present or WHO was present. Then the right bitchy comment came again from Number 5 after LSD handed in their entry and Pazza of LSD described it to them, "Well they won't fucking win, Rebels did the same thing two years ago!", he said after Pazza had left. When the competitions took place we were just told who had won, "judges decision final and all that shite" and yes, guess what? LSD came last! We were already told this before the judging had even taken place and anyone had seen the demo. I had to feel a little sorry for the LSD guys. Judge Drokk had also been told that Anarchy had won the demo and music competitions before any official announcements were made!? But that's not all, a guy in Delicious Designs (sorry- forgot your name) who used to be in Digital was told that he had won the graphics competition. Again before any judging had taken place. Then, Number 5 asked Mystik of Anarchy what Lynx of Rebels' picture was like (he hadn't seen it, but Mystik had been shown it by Red Devil of Dual Crew) to which Mystik replied, "Fucking smart!" - coz it was.... The next thing I had heard was that this guy in Delicious had been told he was second!! Hahah?! The FINAL announcement came and this guy in Delicious was announced JOINT first with Lynx... That meant the 50 pounds prize money had to be split between two!! Hhhhmmm... Also Lynx's picture was announced as if it was by a guy called "Gonzo of Tension" or something... Which was later changed back to Lynx when they asked for the people to collect their prize money.... Apparently the guy in Delicious was also asked to re-join his former group Digital... Poach, poach... Number 5's excuse for the changing of Lynx's name was that he only announced what was written on the disk... This is complete bullshit because Number 5 had already asked Mystik about it and Red Devil had handed it to the guy...there weren't THAT many entries (about 4 or 5) so Number 5's memory must be quite poor. The only competition that went reasonably well was the music competition, but why didn't we hear any of the other tunes? The winning tune was excellent (by Nuke of Anarchy) but what were the rest of the tunes like? All the competitions were judged at Number 5's house and I suppose whilst they were round there all the entries were copied without the originator's consent? Oh well... The party was suppossed to continue until 12 midnight. but by 7 the hall was only a third to a quarter full... Bah! What happened next I don't know because I had to leave, otherwise it may have been "death by boredom." People may say that I'm chicken writing this article anonomously, but I'm just being sensible because I know what will happen when people read this, because it WILL make people angry. I don't want a part in any petty slanging match between school boys who wear "lumberjack shirts" and have bum-fluff, OK??! I feel that this could have been good if the organisers had simply put in a little bit of effort, sitting on your arses all day and wondering off home for most of the day is hardly the way to behave. From what I could see most of the visible organisation was not ever undertaken by DTL members (apart from Yaz collecting money on the door and checking tickets) the showing of the demos and music and the anouncment of competition winners was not performed by a Digital member either. Well, this is the third and worst party Digital have held in this venue, the second time it was boring and just like the first but the third time in the same place with lazy organisers who make no attempt to inject something different into the party, well, its just not enough. Especialy when they charge so much to get in! You would expect a 3 day party with 1000 dollar prizes when you are paying 6 pounds/12 dollars enteramce. Still, its all over now, THANK GOD!
