This Norwegian party was held in a very big school in Porsgrunn, South of Norway. We easily reached the place after a long trip of 30hours. What we must admit is that the partyplace was really big, but as about 750 freaks showed up, it was just OK. But on those 750 visitors, there was a high percentage of lamers. Nevertheless famous groups were present like Crusaders, Phenomena, Rebels, Razor, Brainstorm (Chester who was too lazy to write another report about this party... -Ed), Andromeda, PMC, Anarchy UK and Norway, Spaceballs, Motion, End of century 1999 (French and Norwegian section), Brain Wave, Majic 12, Addonic, Cinefex Design, Cerberos, Sanity, Equinox, D-tect, Euphoria, Devils. In fact a lot of known groups were present plus Maniacs of Noise and the Amiga Freelancers and Thomas Landspurg who won the democompetition. Rumours at the party said, that he won, because he never won before, so this time they just had to award him. You now think: "What a great party was this one!", but in fact, it wasn't. First of all, the entrance fee for outside scandinavian freaks had increased (50NOK). Secondly, a lot of competitions were cancelled like the Beer, video, eating and the surprise competition... That's not so good! On the invitation the organizeers told you a lot of things to make you come and when you come, things are completly different. Somehow the organizers faked all visitors! When you organize a party you should do it for fun, and not in order to earn as much money as possible. Of course, the first price (democompetition) was up to 10000 NoK, but this only show how much money they've earned. Also, the water closets were awful (flood!), you weren't allowed to smoke and drink inside. About the democompetitions, it was the lamest I've ever seen. We were not allowed to see the demos on the giant screen, because the room was not large enough for more than 40 persons and it was the screen of another group. Not so good again! The only thing we've seen on this big screen was an advertisment for the Eurochart and some really old sucking movies in bad quality! On the other side, people from Hungaria, Sweden, France, Poland, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Germany, Great Britain showed up. Also I have to admit that there were many pretty girls at the party! That was great, but was it worth the trip from France? In addition, some hardware like Action Replay or Hardrives were stolen. But the worst was still to come. The organizers had the brilliant idea to organize an after-party! We thought that would be cool and very kind from the organizers to look after the outside Scandinavian guys. But, once more they only organize this after-party to make money! They wanted 30 NoK for one-day-entrance. Moreover, we were only about 30 personns and we got bored very fast. It was more a sleeping party than anything else! Hopefully Van Gogh/Brain Wave had a little fight with the stupid guy checking the entrance. It was cool even more cool because this guy got some good advices to stay in life! The only guys remaining were Cerberos, Rebels, Anarchy, Equinox and Brain Wave. Anyway, this "after-party" was just a fake and we decided to drive to France as soon as a ferry was available. To sum up, I'd say that Norwegians are really cool and friendly people but they are also money-eaters! For the democomp, gfx or music competition results check the "News'n'Info"- article!
