another month flew past, and not it's
time for another one of these damn text-
wotsits to be written!! i'm starting to
write this on monday the 22nd, and will
hopefully be able to release it at the
MF-party on saturday! (if i can find a
way of getting to rotherham!!)
kreator hasn't sent me the update code
for this issue, so if i don't get that
before saturday then i will have to use
the same logo as issue 3! (but that's ok
- it's a cool logo! (hi igor!...))
speaking of kreator, he's been moaning
that my message-boxes are too short! - i
think 20 pages is enough personally, but
i'll see what i can do this time! (hmph)
Text screen 3
without further ado, here are the long
awaited messages for november!...

marc panther (reaktor).. hey pal, thanks
for the many cool disks! how do you find
time for making music when you have half
a million contacts?

dr.awesome (crusaders).. thanks for all
the (truly awesome) music-disks!.. shame
we couldn't meet in leeds that day. what
ya doing next year? (we'll have to meet
next time you visit martyn!)

kreator (anarchy).. hurry up and send me
the rmb update!!!
Text screen 4
bustman (crusaders).. thanks for making
a logo for us!... send it next time ok..
keep up the cool sendings!

martyn (newsflash).. sorry for the delay
- i didn't realise you gave the disks to
dr.a! anyway, send the latest issue of
newsflash (No.14) when it's ready! (if
its not ready, hurry up and finish it! -
ie. lay off the booze for a few hours!)

judge drokk (anarchy).. we will have to
discuss whether pioneer and i are going
to leave anarchy or not! (a-levels...) -
anarchy is a big group now, and the last
thing you need is 2 inactive members!
Text screen 5
zarch (no group yet).. keep up the fast
sendings! when are you setting up that
pd-house then?...

pioneer (anarchy).. looking forward to
seeing your new demo! (finished at last)
- shame there wasn't more time to finish
it!

kreator (anarchy) (again).. hurry up and
code that game! (send a copy...)

mystik (anarchy).. hey, cool gfx you've
been making lately! keep it up! i would
ask you to make the graphics for my game
- but i'm not making one so i can't...
Text screen 6
igor (anarchy).. your graphics are great
- i particularly liked your stolen data
logo!.. keep up the excellent work!

antichrist (genesis project).. i missed
you at the ces show - i went on sunday,
i heard that you were there on saturday!
maybe we'll be luckier next year! (we'll
have to arrange something this time!)

megasnail (nato).. hey damien, where are
you? your 'new identity' is great, but
how am i supposed to contact you when no
-body knows where you live etc.??? (!) -
if you read this, phone me! i still need
a good c64 cruncher source!
Text screen 7
dan (anarchy).. i'm looking forward to
seeing your new demo - it'd better be as
good as i hope it possibly might be! are
you gonna do some new logos? (i really
liked you rmb logo!)

mole (anarchy).. so, how's the coding???
it must be hard learning machine code
from scratch! anyway, keep up the cool
sendings! (a-levels are a real strain,
aren't they?!?)

hammer (anarchy)..great to hear that you
haven't quit the scene! (what can you
expect us to think when you 'disappear'
after the ces-show!!!)
Text screen 8
kreator (anarchy) (yet again).. hurry up
and code something!

jester (quartex).. hi!

mr.big (anarchy).. why don't you and JD
take over from 'the management'? (ron &
ron...) i think you'd fit the parts
perfectly!.. anyway, i'm looking forward
to the fifth issue of stolen data!! what
are you trying to do to poor parson, he
only release the last one 2 weeks ago!!!
(hoho...)

kreator (anarchy).. your room seems to
have been overrun by tomatoes! (hi dad!)
Text screen 9
deek (genesis project).. what have you
done with my disks? (all i want is for
you to send 'delirious 9' + 'deliverance
2'!!!)

brainie (clones).. why haven't you sent
back yet? anyway, try to send back when
you get this! (ta...)

paul eves (commodore disk user).. a mere
fifty pounds?? hmph!!

.. well, the messages are starting to
drag on, so i'll end them here! now that
i only have a few contacts, it's getting
hard to write this message-box!!!
Text screen 10
       cool demos from october

the imp.666 and no limits party brought
- all - the good demos i saw this month,
and for me they all arrived on the door-
mat on the same day!! amazing...

the pick of the crop (i thought) were:

  Materialized (Cryptoburners) - a nice
demo in the style of Keftales.
It's getting harder (New wave) - with
nice music, vectors and a cool ham pic!
Copper master (Angels) - an excellent
raster-compilation demo from corsair (an
x-member of dragons)
Text screen 11
   habitual experience (razor 1911)- with
some more raster effects, this time of a
pretty odd variety! (copper starfields,
copper spaceships, etc...)
Watch this (network) - featuring a bob
scroller (unoriginal, but it looks cool)
Mandelbrot zoom (pure metal coders) -
a quite nice demo with 100 frames of 16-
colour mandelbrots compacted into memory
(about 128 by 128 pixels in size each).

Another demo that seemed to be pretty
cool was The Hunt from Cryptoburners - I
say seemed because i could only get the
first bit to work... but anyway, what i
saw of it was cool!
Text screen 12
i didn't see many good games that were
released this month... in fact there are
only 3 that i actually bothered to play!
- they were:

plotting (ocean) - a cool puzzle game in
which you have to knock blocks out of a
pile (copyright bad descriptions 1990)

paradroid 90 (hewson) - i don't see what
people like in this game, it was a lot
better on the c64... because this is an
st-port the game is nowhere near as good
as it should have been! (the bi-direct-
ional scrolling has been replaced by a
vertical scroll! lame!)
Text screen 13
cadaver - a cool new 3d-isometric arcade
adventure from the bitmap brothers! very
playable unlike most games of this genre
and still retaining the complexity of
fairlight (which this game is obviously
based around).

  there've been some very disappointing
games released lately... take gremlins 2
for example. the publishers are quite
obviously just trying to make money out
of the young kids who saw the film! (hi
rebels-uk!)... f19 stealth fighter was a
very poor conversion of the old c64 game
- why don't they leave classics like f19
alone?
Text screen 14
           the ces show 1990

i cannot give a 'definitive' report on
this show, because:-

  1. i was only there for 4 hours on the
last day.
  2. i have only ever been to one other
show (the 16-bit summer event), so can't
give any comparisons etc.

but anyway, i enjoyed myself while i
was there! the show itself was not very
interesting, but i met all my friends in
anarchy/reaktor/etc., and that's all i
really went for!
Text screen 15
one problem i found was that everybody
was going to the show on different days.
for example, crusaders and some others
went on the trade days (thursday/friday)
, my friends in genesis project (c64) on
saturday, and most amiga groups (anarchy
quartex, reaktor and some kids from the
rebels (uk division) went on sunday.

the funniest part of the day-out was
when pioneer, an st-owner (i hadn't seen
hime before in my life, honest...) and i
nearly missed the coach home. we set off
for victoria station an hour before the
coach was scheduled to set off, and just
managed to get there 1 minute before!

... and so we have come to the end of
another message-box!.. the next one will
probably be released pre-christmas (some
time around the 12th)... i'll check my
calendar later and see when the anarchy-
quartex party is, 'cos i'll release one
in time for that cool party!
hmm.. i have 8 more lines to fill, and
i don't know what to write... err.. how
about a limerick?

Last saturday Sue came to call.
She really has no shame at all.
        She said: "though i like
          to come on my bike,
i come on your knees best of all."
