Hi Cougar. I guess that most people know you, but please introduce yourself anyway. |
| Cougar: |
Well... My birth certificate shows me that my real name is Christian Reissmueller, but I decided to change it to COUGAR when I was one year and two months old. Why I changed my name? ... O.k... At my first birthday I asked a guy called "Rutsch-Hose" (Engl.: "Sliding-Trousers"), who was the leader of an infamous gang called "Die Windel-Pupser" (Engl.: "The Napkin-Farters"), for membership. He checked my person (only elite babies were allowed to join the gang), and told me the conditions: I had to attack our mayor with selfmade shit. And I managed to do that shitty work...! (hehe!) Now I've been a true napkin farter! Soon I had a girlfriend called "Pussy-Baby" who loved me for the shitty work I had done. And there appeared the problem: Every time when she called for me like this, "Rabaeeeeh, agagaga, waeeeeeh aga gaga waba!" (translated: "Christian, darling, come to my breasts!"), everyone whose name was Christian, followed this tempting invitation ...!! Therefore I had to change my name to Cougar!!! My actual age is about ten years ... eh ... no! That's my grandmas age ...! I remember. I'm about twenty years old. In my earlier life I've been an Egyptian princess! Today, one of my tasks seems to be, that I am a gfx-artist in SANITY! |
| TFG: |
Thanx, please tell us a bit about former your groups and whether you liked them or not. |
| Cougar: |
My first group, where I've been a member, was called TBC. At that time, I owned a C-64. Then I sold that cute little machine (what a pitty) and bought an Amiga. My first group on Amiga: Level-4 ! I enjoyed being a member of L-4 a lot. That means, the first time! There was a great friendship, not at least because of some internal meetings. I had a good relation to most of the guys (e.g. JPN, MCS, MMS...). But then, there had come the big lazyness. Therefore JPN, I and some others decidet to leave and we foundet a new group and named it Vertical. We released a musikdisk and Asteroids but a really good coder was missing. Although we had a good musican (The Fox) and a quite acceptable graphic artist (me, hehe). But I wanted to do some really cool demos. So I decidet to join Sanity! This is only the short version of my Amiga story... |
| TFG: |
How did you become a graphician and for how long time ago did you start making gfx? |
| Cougar: |
I drew my first graphics still on C-64, but only a few (some logos for TBC). The first one and a half years on Amiga I only played games. Then I noticed that I didn't have enough stuff. Therefore I wrote to JPN (at that time still a member of L-4), asked for swapping and told him that I was a gfx-man. But in reality I hadn't painted any gfx on Amiga, at that time. JPN didn't want to swap, but he asked me to send him some graphics... Therefore I drew my first gfx on Amiga (a small spaceship and a huge L-4-logo). JPN liked my gfx very much ... I started making gfx (on Amiga) about two years ago. About one and a half years ago, I pixeled the Snake that you know from "Turmoil". |
| TFG: |
What hardware do you have? |
| Cougar: |
A 500; A 1081; external drive; 1 MB; Epson LQ-550; several joysticks (my best joystick, a competition pro 5000, is already seven years old and still working fine!) |
| TFG: |
Please try to describe the German versus the whole scene. |
| Cougar: |
There are so many articles about this (or, and similar) topics that I won't warm it up again. I only hope that the German demo-scene will have a come back (not at least because of Sanity...). Many talented guys left the scene in order to write games. But I think that you can do both... |
| TFG: |
Sanity! Introduction should be unnecesary, but try to tell us everything about your group. |
| Cougar: |
Sanity consists of 14 members:
- 6 coders: Chaos - Mr. Pet - Flosoft - Zap - Cosmos - Microforce
- 3 gfx-artists: Cruiser - Cthulu - Cougar
- 2 sound-wizards: Jester - Bit Arts
- 3 mail-trader: Diddle - The Pride - Zaphod
The Pride is the only Nongerman member. Good and reliable (!) sysops or (and) modemtrader will be welcome !!! (Germans prefered !) |
| TFG: |
You got the second place at THE PARTY with your picture of the wild dog. Was you satisfied with this, or did you think you should have won? |
| Cougar: |
Yes, of course I should have won, because I would have got more money, and everyone wants money (hehe)!?! But the only problem is (was) that Iridons picture looks better than mine! And he has spent much more hours (interlaced, 64 col.) to finish his masterpiece! Therefore I think it's quite fair that he won the first price! |
| TFG: |
What do you think about THE PARTY in general? |
| Cougar: |
Yeah! It was (without doubt) the best party where I've ever been! Great organisation!! It was a pitty that some guys behaved like aliens. |
| TFG: |
Will Sanity make a party this year? |
| Cougar: |
No, I don't think so. |
| TFG: |
Try to explain the progress when you are drawing. Do you make an outline first or do you just draw by your imagination? |
| Cougar: |
First, you have to take a large pot. Then you have to put it onto an open fire and fill it up with Ethanol (alcohol)... and then you need some ingredients: otternoses, snailslime, a crittertooth, some milk of your girlfriend, some Ewok-hair, a Wookie-fart, a bunch of magic shit ... After mixing all the stuff, it has to cook for several days. Then take a magic flask and fill it up with the magic sauce. Now, you have to leave this flask about one year in an nuclear reactor. And if the flask doesen't cause a Chernobyl accident (?...!!!), you take it back and put some drops into your mouse... whaaooorriiim!... suddenly the force is with your mouse!!! It draws everything you wish! ... But pssssst! Don't tell this recipe to anybody!! TOP SECRET!!! PS: Don't forget the salt! |
| TFG: |
Where do you get the ideas for the pictures from? |
| Cougar: |
Very strange ideas... e.g. in the case of The Dog! I tried to imagine, how a bitch (female dog) would look like while being fucked by me... Now you can watch The Dog (final title: "The Bitch"!) again, and you'll see that I got it quite well... |
| TFG: |
What is your aim as an graphician, and what is Sanity's aim (If any, ofcourse)? |
| Cougar: |
To draw my gfx best as possible (for me). To have fun (!!!) and to release high-quality stuff. To meet nice people. |
| TFG: |
How long time do you usually spend in front of your computer each day? |
| Cougar: |
About 2 CDs long ... |
| TFG: |
How long does it take you to make a picture like the one from THE PARTY? |
| Cougar: |
I don't know exactly because I drew the left and the lower part of the dog (bitch) at the party! So I still have to improve these parts. But I think that it took me about 20 hours (?). |
| TFG: |
Please tell about coming productions from Sanity? |

| TFG: |
Please give your opinion about the following graphicsians and comment on their way of drawing: |
| Cougar: |
Iridon of Shining:
- Nice style. It seems that he spends a lot of time on his pictures. Surely one of the best! He showed me some of his pictures and some outlines.
Fresh of Anarchy (Former Axis member):
- I can't remember any gfx of him...
Michael Balle of Silents:
- His strength doesen't seem to consist in drawing amazing pictures but in making impressive animations (e.g. in "Global Trash 2"! or "Hardwired").
UNO of Scoopex:
- His latest pictures are quite good (e.g. the two pics he drew for Zine). But he is not the Nr.1 any more. My personal ranking: (only) Nr.3!
Mithrandir of Acme:
- Nice graphics. It's a pitty that many of his (released) pictures look a bit unfinished or drawn in hurry. It seems that he doesen't want to spend too much time on a single picture.
JOE of TRSI:
- When I started to draw gfx on Amiga JOE has been my Idol. I admired him for his great gfx he had done in "Xenomorphs". Since there I've only seen one picture of him; and today my gfx are much better than the days I began...
Slash of Anarchy:
- The gfx of the "3D Demo" are nice. He is also able to paint pretty logos and fonts.
Bustman of Crusaders:
- It is nice that not everybody has the same style, cool. But I don't think that he can reach the top five with his style.
Rack of Majic 12:
- I love the great font that he drew for "Ray Of Hope 2". But I was a little bit dissapointed of the titlepic from the latest "Top Secret"-issue. He has also a quite significant style. |
| TFG: |
Have you made some graphics for commercial use? |
| Cougar: |
Yes, I do some gfx for a game. And there are still many interesting offers. |
| TFG: |
Would you like to make a living by drawing gfx, and are you planning to do that? |
| Cougar: |
???!... |
| TFG: |
Do you have an idol in graphics (Bitman Broth. or ...)? |
| Cougar: |
Marc Coleman and the 'Beast'-graphician! |
| TFG: |
Besides making gfx, what do you do? Do you paint? |
| Cougar: |
Many nice things... |
| TFG: |
Who is your favourite painter (Van gogh, Picasso or...) and why? |
| Cougar: |
I like the surrealistic pictures of Salvador Dali. He painted with his paranoic-critical method pictures of extremly hallutinatoric sharpness. But there (were) are also many other artist whose work I admire, e.g Caspar David Friedrich, Boris Vallejo... |
| TFG: |
Which group/s do you admire most for their productions, members, coolness, friendship and so on, if you have to concern all these matters? |
| Cougar: |
I respect: Silents (productions, members); Phenomena (members, productions); Shining (members); Brainstorm (Zine); Alcatraz (productions). |
| TFG: |
Ok, I guess that we have reached the end of this interview. Now you have the possibillity to write anything you want. |
| Cougar: |
If you feel like sending me some money, or if you are a pretty bitch, or ... then write to my address that is mentioned in the Sanity sounddisks "Turmoil" and "Jester Day"... |
