Interview
Magellan: Hye CROQUIK! Can you introduce you to our readers?
Croquik: DRD is born whith KOUGAR and CROQUIK in september 1987. KOUGAR has created the name. Nice, isn't it? CELENOID was a friend of mine and he knew REDLIGHT (who was coding the Z80 of the AMSTRAD, and before that the Z80 of is LAZER2000). We have done our first megademo together, afterwards we realised the JUKEBOX (I can't refrain me to performe the musics of the games I enjoy). In December 1990, we met TONY who is now our gfx man. In February 1991, the Megademo II was released with 3D filled (we were the first French group to manage such a thing!). Afterwards MOBY has contacted us because he appreciated the music of KOUGAR. MOBY is a DRD since a few months. Then, TIK, a friend of TONY, has joined us a month ago.
Magellan: How old are the members?
Croquik: I'm 19, REDLIGHT is 17, CELENOID 18, KOUGAR 21, TONY 16, and MOBY 21.
Magellan: What is your configuration?
Croquik: I've got an A500 with 2.5 of ram, with an Hd590, a modem 2400, a printer EPSON LQ500, an external drive and a NORDICPOWER3.0.
Magellan: Why are you a coder?
Croquik: Because I'm programming for 7 years. I've begun with a THOMSON MO5, then a TO7, afterwards I've learned basic on a C64, next asm 6502 still on the C64, finally the asm 68000 on the AMIGA.
Magellan: Why have you chosen the AMIGA?
Croquik: Because it's the best machine!
Magellan: How do you learn coding?
Croquik: By myself.
Magellan: According to you, who are the three best groups?
Croquik: REBELS, PHENOMENA, and CRYPTOBURNERS. They are too proud of themselves... But they are very good.
Magellan: Have you belong to an other group before DRD?
Croquik: For CELENOID, REDLIGHT, KOUGAR and I, DRD is our first group. Don't forget! We are also the first French group to use 3D (megademo II, December 1990) and 3D filled (Jukebox II, June 1991).
Magellan: Have you a leitmotiv to propose for the AMIGA scene?
Croquik: Of course I have!! "Less guys who have an air about one, and more cool demos!". Because a group is judged with his demos.
Magellan: Have you an obsession?
Croquik: Yes... Perfection.
Magellan: What is your conception of a good demo?
Croquik: An original idea, a good coding, some cool gfx, a music with a beautiful melody...
Magellan: What do you think about demo parties?
Croquik: It's cool but in FRANCE...it is not as good as it is in other countries.
Magellan: What do you think about the APP (the police for crakers)?
Croquik: It's necessary to protect the copyright. It's their job...
Magellan: What do you think about the AMIGA scene?
Croquik: In FRANCE, there's too much guys who have an hair about one.
Magellan: You're not often in the charts, but you are always named as a reference. Do you know why?
Croquik: We don't know enough spreaders. So nobody knows our products (or hardly noone).
Magellan: What is your favourite game?
Croquik: LEMMINGS for the originality, ARMAGEDON and the HUNTER for the 3D.
Magellan: What are your favourite magazines (except PLAYBOY and PENTHOUSE)?
Croquik: The best magazines are from GERMANY: KICKSTART for example. ANEWS is a good one for the hardware, and AmigaNewsTech a good one for the coding. I dislike initiation magazines as TILT or AMIGAREVUE. GEN4 is a magazine for guys who are not able to make a difference between a computer and a gameboy.
Magellan: Have an advice to give to the other coders?
Croquik: No. It would be pretentious to give advices to coders.
Magellan: What do think about girls?
Croquik: I prefer a nice girl to a very beautiful one. I like long haired girls, with nice eyes which seem to speak. I also want her to have the joy of living.
Magellan: Have you something to say to end this interview?
Croquik: At first, some greets for DIGITAL ARTS/IRIS, LES HERETIQUES, and AMIGUY. And to conclude, an important thing: TRY TO SEE OUR PRODUCTS!!! I think they are worth trying!!!
Magellan: I hope that you will be heard. Thanks to you, and see you soon.
