Uno, in really short time you became one of the best graphicians in the scene. Weren't you in any other group before you've joined Scoopex? How old are you? |
| Uno: |
I was born 74-09-22. I was in one group before joining Phenomena in late 1990. This group consisted of me, Invid and Judas. After some time we decided to ask for membership in Razor, but they said no... Quite some time after that we made a little demo (never released) for Phenomena and send it to Photon. He liked it (?) and we joined... But Photon had problems with some Phenomena members and decided to leave, and so did Judas, Invid and I. Uncle Tom had left Razor some time ago all of us decided to form... --- SCOOPEX * SWEDEN --- |

Since when are you painting with computers? Why did you start? |
| Uno: |
I started a couple of years ago when my brother bought a A2000... I paint on paper so why shouldn't I try painting on a computer. |
| Zine: |
Aren't you sick of watching demos looking like all others. What motivation is there to keep you an active computer-scene-member? |
| Uno: |
I like painting... |
| Zine: |
What way do you proceed when creating new graphics? Any special methods? Do you proceed in any extraordinaire way when drawing? (e.g. switching the light off, listening to music?) |
| Uno: |
Before painting I say a little prayer to Ranger and ask him to give me the power of the holy beard so that I can paint the way I do. If I have been a nice boy he may grant me the power, if not I will fall in a terrible coma or state of chock for about a week in some bizarre body position... Have you not heard of Photons breakdown? Rumours tell that it was a curse from Ranger... So beware!!! |
| Zine: |
What way will new logos look like? Many seem to be quite perfect at the moment. Is there a future for animated logos? |
| Uno: |
Hopefully people will paint their logos more like pictures and a bit more psychedelic... I don't know about animated logos. |
| Zine: |
Hard question! Do you use scanners, digitizers to create graphics? |
| Uno: |
NO! |
| Zine: |
What 'real' artists do you like? (e.g. Picasso, Dali, Rembrandt...) Do you prefer any special style? |
| Uno: |
I like Salvador Dali a lot but not all my favourite artists are surrealists. Tim White, Frank Frazetta and Angus McBride are cool. Hieronymus Bosch is still going strong! |
| Zine: |
What are your tips for graphicians who want to become good? Is perseverance (endurance) more important than the talent? |
| Uno: |
I know a lot of graphicians who tell me they can't paint on paper... But I think the talent is very important if you want to become one of the best. Allthough you have to paint for quite some time to learn how to shade and use the amiga to it's limits. |
| Zine: |
How much time do you spend to create a picture... could you approximately tell us how much time you spent to draw... |
| Uno: |
| The Enigma logo: |
This one took a VERY long time to paint! And I'm not satisfied with the result since I had to paint 70% at the party. So it was close to rush-work. |
| The Zine #9 pic: |
3-4 days... (not effective time of course) |
| The Enigma 'monster': |
This picture was about 8 months old before used in the demo. And it took a couple of days to paint(not effective time of course). |
|
| Zine: |
Have you never thought to paint graphics for a game? Didn't you get any offers till now? Do you think it's harder to create game-graphics than demo-graphics? |
| Uno: |
I've got about 5-6 offers to paint game- graphics, and I'm working on a small game for Swedish television together with Celebrandil. I also will do the graphics for Azatoth's vec.game. Painting game-graphics is a bit harder since you have to think more and you've got all sorts of limitations. |
| Zine: |
The meaning of 'Uno' in the Italian language is 'one'. Do you think you are the 'number one'? |
| Uno: |
No matter how good you are there is always someone who is better! Maybe my ego needed the name... |
| Zine: |
What do you think about other graphicians? |
| Uno: |
| Reward/Scoopex: |
Awfully good, considering the fact that he is a Finnish citizen. But perhaps not as good as Replica? |
| Golem/Anarchy: |
The only thing I've seen from Golem is his old slideshow which wasn't very good... But maybe it isn't fair to judge his skills from this rather old product? |
| Bustman/Crusaders: |
I do not like the style of Bustman. |
| Dark/Red Sector: |
Dark's graphics are OK, but not more than that. |
| Havok: |
Havok is good, but seems to leave most of his works "half-finished". |
|
| Zine: |
What artists do you especially like? Any others than mentionned above? |
| Uno: |
What about Terminator of Tristar? I think he definitely is one of the best! |
| Zine: |
Some short questions... Your favourite: |
| Uno: |
|
| Zine: |
... So we want to know some personal infos, too. - What do you look like? |
| Uno: |
Blue eyes, blonde hair, I simply look good!!! |
| Zine: |
Do you believe in god? |
| Uno: |
I'm atheist... Oups, sorry Rangerist. |
| Zine: |
Do you have a girl-friend? |
| Uno: |
Nope... What about boy-friends? |
| Zine: |
Are you often dead-drunk? What about drugs? |
| Uno: |
On occasion I'm drunk, but I don't use any drugs. |
| Zine: |
"Fuck off and die!"... what about that? |
| Uno: |
Good expression to use in different situations... |
| Zine: |
Do you believe in your government? |
| Uno: |
Yes, I'm quite sure they exist. |
| Zine: |
What do you think about 'our' country... Switzerland? What are people talking about Switzerland in your country? |
| Uno: |
When talking about Schweiz (Suisse, Svizzera, Helvetia) the first thing you think about is joddling people in Lederhosen, choclate, cheese and clocks. Switzerland is also a country where lots of rich Swedes open bankaccounts. But mostly, I guess it's the alps that makes it such a popular touristcountry. And I guess Swiss people are not very much for women liberation. |
| Zine: |
Do you want to ask yourself some questions and answer them, too? |
| Uno: |
No thanks. |
| Zine: |
Now feel free to write another 213KB of text... |
| Uno: |
I just have to say hello to Slayer and Reward, Ranger and TMB, Chuck, Mack and the rest of SCOOPEX! Big fuck to Rabzi (not a Scoopex member!). Send your empty disks to: Mikael Billborn, Baeverdammsgrand 81, 12442 Bandhagen, Sweden |
| Zine: |
Many thanks for being patient... |
