| Dring, Dring... |
| Zine: |
Hello here's Orlando I want to speak to Tommi. |
| Slayer: |
Hello. |
| Zine: |
Hello here's Orlando of Brainstorm. |
| Slayer: |
Oh, yeah great. |
| We talk about some personal things, that aren't interesting here... |
| Slayer: |
Do you go to the Dexion party? |
| Zine: |
No we don't go because it's a very long trip from Switzerland to Denmark. But I guess it's also a long trip from Finland? |
| Slayer: |
But we're using airplanes, so who cares? |
| Zine: |
That's right. How much time do you use to go to the Dexion party? |
| Slayer: |
Two hours in airplane and about 3 hours by train to the party-place. |
| Zine: |
Do you have a demo for this party? |
| Slayer: |
No! You know, I'm going to the army in june. So I'll do one demo before that. It's not ready for the Dexion party. |
| Zine: |
Is it true, that Photon is making a demo for the party? |
| Slayer: |
He's not anymore called Photon he's nowadays called 'Protec'. |
| Zine: |
But is he doing something? |
| Slayer: |
Yeah, of course. A swedish member is making a demo too. Actually I think we're going to publish two demos in Denmark. |
| Zine: |
That's good. And your demo? Are you working on it? |
| Slayer: |
Yeah. |
| Zine: |
Do you have any new ideas? Do you want to say anything about it. |
| Slayer: |
I won't say the ideas of course. The surprises are the best thing. But by the way, if you don't have any new ideas, why do you make demos? |
| Zine: |
Yes that's right. |
| Slayer: |
Yeah! I don't want to make this filled vectors again. Not something normal, something absurd. |
| Zine: |
But, you know, not all persons are able to produce high-quality demos. Perhaps they have ideas and they aren't able to program them. |
| Slayer: |
I don't thinks so, the coding is not so hard, but only the ideas. |
| Zine: |
Yes, it's the most important thing of a demo. |
| Slayer: |
Anybody can code, but the ideas... It's my opinion. |
| Zine: |
Yes, you're right. |
| Slayer: |
In your group, let's say, you also have a good graphic man. Have you ever seen a demo, that was designed by a coder? Ooof... Incredible ugly... |
| Zine: |
In your demos, are you doing the design? |
| Slayer: |
No, it's Reward. |
| Zine: |
Is only he deciding? |
| Slayer: |
I've the ideas and he too, so I code something with very bad graphics, no coppers and the colors are from the asshole and so on... Then I send a preview to Reward and he'll send back the graphics or something... |
| Zine: |
I think also that the design and the ideas are very important. |
| Slayer: |
Red Sector demos. They have so great graphic artists. |
| Zine: |
But, Reward is also really great. |
| Slayer: |
Yeah and our new graphic artist. |
| Zine: |
Uno? |
| Slayer: |
Yeah, he's incredible... |
| Zine: |
I've seen the decrunching picture in your Chromium demo and the font and the logos in the Phenomena demos. |
| Slayer: |
Wait for his new graphics, they are incredible... |
| Zine: |
I'm waiting... Your first demo was Seven Sins? |
| Slayer: |
That was my first demo for Scoopex. But my first demo was for Accession. |
| Zine: |
And your name was? |
| Slayer: |
Slayer! |
| Zine: |
Also Slayer? |
| Slayer: |
I coded one intro and a music-disk. |
| Zine: |
What do you think about that, that most people in the scene think, that you are the best coder. |
| Slayer: |
That's bullshit. It's only the ideas. There are so many great coders like Mr. Megamind, the Paradox coders, Delta and let's say you too. And so on... Many great coders, but only the ideas are important... |
| Zine: |
You think that it is really the most important thing? |
| Slayer: |
The ideas and the design of course. The coding is nothing. There are some programs that you have to code hard, but... |
| Zine: |
Yes, I know what you mean. |
| Slayer: |
Yeah. |
| Zine: |
Is Uncle Tom again in Scoopex, am I right? |
| Slayer: |
Yeah... |
| Zine: |
And from your last demo, let's say from your last real demo, the sound, many people &*%$&*#%#&!*#&**&&*!# |
| And at this point the telephone line breaks down and I have to dial Slayer's number again (I won't write it down here!!!) |
| Zine: |
Hello! |
| Slayer: |
Hi again. |
| Zine: |
We were talking about the sound from 'Mental Hangover'. |
| Slayer: |
Yeah! |
| Zine: |
Very few people say that it is good, but I think it's something special it's very... |
| Slayer: |
Strange? |
| Zine: |
Yeah, but I think, that it is one of the best sounds ever. What do you think about it. |
| Slayer: |
When we did 'Mental Hangover' we wanted to make a strange demo, nothing normal and so on... So we told Uncle Tom to compose an eight minute long, strange, not normal tune... So he did it. No complains. It's great for Mental Hangover... |
| Zine: |
Now for some personal questions. Do like having the image of always being drunk? |
| Slayer: |
Of course I'm drunken, but not so much like Bloodsuckers or something like that. When you are with good friends TCC/Red Sector, Stephano, Kevin. Ok, you drink couple of beers, having fun together, that's ok for me. I have never broken any places... |
| Zine: |
Ok, that's enough about this topic. Do you know the music-group Slayer? Do you like it? |
| Slayer: |
I like it somedays. I can listen to all kinds of music, I think. It depends in what condition you are. If you want to kill people, you have to listen to Slayer, if you want to be romantic, you have to listen to romantic songs. Only thing I hate is Acid music. I hate it. Bullshit. |
| Zine: |
I've really the same opinion in this point. Did you code a game? |
| Slayer: |
Not yet, but I'm thinking about it. I don't know yet. |
| Here follows again some personal crap, that isn't meant to be published in this mag... so this interview ends here... |
| Zine: |
Many thanks SLAYER!!! And also to my parents for paying the phone-bill.. |
