Hi Christian, usually we should start with the introduction, but as I don't like standards, we will take off with another question... How did your career so far look like? |
| Cougar: |
First, I had a ZX-Spectrum; then I was in a group called TBC on C64. Afterwards I bought an Amiga and joined Level-4 as a graphician and because of a big inactivity of the other members JPN and I left and we joined Vertical. Then I joined Sanity where I rested till today. |
| The Jungle: |
Would you ever join another group and what would you do if Sanity dies one day? |
| Cougar: |
Nope, I don't think so. |
| The Jungle: |
What are you doing when you aren't sitting in front of your machine? |
| Cougar: |
Drawing gfx; watching stuff; eating and drinking; farting from time to time; Gambling; listening to CDs ... |
| The Jungle: |
Ok, I see that we aren't able to continue this interview without the thing everybody is waiting for: Please introduce yourself! |
| Cougar: |
I'm another hairy monster with a hairlength of about 40 cm; 184 tall; 75 kg heavy; male; living in Bavaria/Germany; as I am a cougar (mountain lion), I live in the mountains and so I like mountain climbing, skiing and other alpine sports... But I also like other sports like e.g playing volley ball, drinking beer, hunting girls, Bavarese ..... My job is to do graphics for various firms. I also do gfx for games. At the moment I'm doing the gfx for a big game project for a game-console. My "job" in the scene is to be graphician and main-organiser of Sanity. |
| The Jungle: |
Thanx for this introduction, but let's kick this interview! Do you sit in front of your computer everyday or just sometimes when you have the motivation? |
| Cougar: |
6 to 8 hours a day when I'm doing game gfx under the week. |
| The Jungle: |
Are there any days you really hate to pixel something? |
| Cougar: |
Yep, of course, but luck that this does not happen too often. |
| The Jungle: |
How did your first real logo/picture look like and has it ever been released? |
| Cougar: |
It was on C 64 and the people did like it. |
| The Jungle: |
Were there any guys who called you a "scanner" when you became more popular in the scene? (Seems like to have become a good methode to defend against newcomers in the last time!) BTW: Do you own one? |
| Cougar: |
I did draw the half of the dog at the Party 1 and almost the whole "Rock'n'Roll"-pic. at the 680XX-convention (by Complex-Sanity...) and many hundreds of guys did see and watch it. This is a good method to defend yourself against dirty rumours. An even a much better method is if you only draw selfdesigned pics for the scene. But who has so much time? I prefer doing game-gfx and being payed for my work. But nevertheless, you'll see some of my self-created work also on Amiga, someday in 1994. |
| The Jungle: |
What do you think of guys calling themself a grafican and scan their pictures and only do some additional drawing? Art or fool? |
| Cougar: |
If they scan pics which they have created by themselves on paper before, then it is okay. Otherwise they are poor pigs that will be eaten by the big wolf... |
| The Jungle: |
The scene hasn't seen as much pictures from you as Facet but what you released was really awesome. Does it take a very long time to finish a picture or do you only pixel few ones? |
| Cougar: |
Sometimes it takes quite long time, sometimes not (if I'm veeerry motivated). |
| The Jungle: |
Do you care about your ranking in the charts? Would you spend more time in front of your machine if you could be number one then? |
| Cougar: |
I don't care soooo much about my ranking in the charts as e.g. Facet, but I care about it. It is a kind of way to see that the people like the work you are doing, and everyone wants to see that his work is respected by the others, isn't it? I draw as much as I like. |
| The Jungle: |
Facet is said to be only on the top due to the mass of the releases. What do you think? |
| Cougar: |
In some kind this is right! Yep. Not only because of the mass, as lotsa his gfx are nice, but the mass is an important factor ... |
| The Jungle: |
Do you finish every picture you have started at once or does it take a long time? |
| Cougar: |
Look upwards some questions back. |
| The Jungle: |
What do you when you are pixelling? Just rape the mouse and look into your soup box or do you have real one-man-parties in front of your screen? |
| Cougar: |
Both! |
| The Jungle: |
Are there many pictures you haven't released due to lack of quality or bad design? |
| Cougar: |
My pics? Don't know this two aspects! |
| The Jungle: |
Where do you get your inspiration for your pictures? Do you like pictures looked up from Boris V.? |
| Cougar: |
Everything that my eyes see is my inspiration, conscious and unconscious. Together with my own mind it is a good combination. Copying pics is only good to improve your style or if you want to learn something from this pic. But don't be too proud upon your copied work. I'm more proud upon my self-created stuff than upon my copied pics. Boris is cool, but too much Boris can be also nerving. |
| The Jungle: |
What do you prefer to draw and is there anything you really hate to pixel? |
| Cougar: |
It depends on my mood what I like to pixel or what not. |
| The Jungle: |
Do you like naked-woman-on-dragon-pictures? |
| Cougar: |
I like naked women in my bed, and then they have to let their dragon stay at their home! Yep. |
| The Jungle: |
The new AGA amigas offer a big range of colors. Do you think that this only supports the scanning or will this improve the quality of the upcoming pictures? |
| Cougar: |
Of course, there'll be lots of scanned pics., as I fear, but it opens you also new possibilities for your self-designed work. |
| The Jungle: |
Would you still have an Amiga if there was no scene? |
| Cougar: |
Hummmmm ....?????.....!!!!! |
| The Jungle: |
Lately I saw a lame PC-demo with your dog, which should have been painted by a guy called Fleshbrain. Do you mind such lame actions? |
| Cougar: |
I only know a M12-demo with the dog and the pic was only converted, with my permission. |
| The Jungle: |
How much money have you earned so far by competing at parties? Are you rich? :-) |
| Cougar: |
???...... Yes, of couse. I have my own big castle, my own mountains and my own wood where I can roam. Furthermore I have ..... Everything was bought from the money that I did win at Amiga parties !... |
| The Jungle: |
Graphican = demo designer. What's your opinion? |
| Cougar: |
It should be so. But also the coder and the musician should add their ideas! |
| The Jungle: |
Soooo...we are near the end...a last question. What can we expect from you/Sanity in the future? |
| Cougar: |
A lot, I hope .... |
| The Jungle: |
The end of this little interview has come and it's time to wish you good luck in the future and thanx for this amusing bytes! Now feel free to beam some bytes to your friends! |
| Cougar: |
Grueezi Gott, alle miteinander dort!!! |
