Interview
Zine: Introduce yourself (name, function and so on...)
Promax: Hello my name is Promax. I dont know if you ever heard about me but I am a coder in Kefrens.
Zine: When and by whom was Kefrens founded?
Promax: The group was founded in 1987 by some old members called Razmo, Metallion, Mellica. The last guy Mellica was kicked out 2 month ago. At first they called themselves The Starlight Project but in 1988 they changed the name to Kefrens.
Zine: Why didn't you join Paradox?
Promax: An old question, but anyway... I'll try to be brief. Some months ago I was tired of Kefrens, we were 25 members more than half of them didn't do anything. It is hard to kick more than half a group out. So when Midnight Maniac called me and Metallion, we raised the problem. The others said that if we left, Kefrens wouldn't exist anymore. That convinced me that the other members were shit. So I joined Paradox together with 4 other members from Kefrens. Kefrens was disolved and didn't exist for 1 hole day. But 7 of the cool old Kefrens guys formed the group again together with 4 new guys. I found out that some of the members in Paradox had secret addresses and that we could only get their first name. And I felt that I had to code demos and intros to a bunch of guys I didnt know (couldn't get to know). So I decided that before I got more involved in this new group I would leave it. The other four left too, and we rejoined Kefrens. So here I am back in good old Kefrens based on friendship and solidarity.
Zine: Write down the members of Kefrens and their funktions.
Promax: We are now 16 members in a-z order: Deflex............Spreader ICronite.............Coder Metallion............Coder Nightlight...........Music RWO....................Gfx Toxic.............Spreader Detron...............Coder Jagger............Spreader Milkshake..............Gfx Promax...............Coder Seen...................Gfx Gizwiz...............Coder Maestro..............Music Neon.................Coder Razmo...........MusGfxCode SLL..................Music
Zine: Are you looking for more members?
Promax: As mentioned we had problems because we were too many. We don't want that to happen again, so NO new members please!
Zine: What's the average age in Kefrens?
Promax: At the moment the average must be about 18-19 years. I myself is 20 years.
Zine: Who decided to code the last megademo?
Promax: After haveing visited the Upfront Christmas party without having anything ready for release except for the Seka V3.2. We decided to change that at our own party, one and a half month later. I had 3 weeks off in January so I coded Filled Transformer, Kill Victor and a few days before the party I coded the loader screen.
Zine: What was your first release?
Promax: Our first release was a demo by Metallion in 1987. A beauty with rasterbars, sprites and a one bitplanes selfdrawn logo. Quite cool when you consider that the hardware manual was impossible to get at that time.
Zine: What kind of music do you like? (last bought LP)
Promax: The last record must almost certainly have been a Jean Michel Jarre hyper dynamic blib, blop computer sound alike record. Normaly I just find a funky radiostation. But I like U2, Jean M.J., Simple Minds some heavy like Metallica, Paradox (actualy this was the name Detron and I told Midnight Maniac to call his new group 'Paradox', if you have seen the cover you will know why). OK, most heavy is shit!!! I also like music by the world fameous Stefan Jaworski?!?
Zine: Do you booze, smoke?
Promax: No smoking, boozing is ok. (Greetings to Delta and Slayer at the Silents & Red Sector party.)
Zine: What about Kefrens Saturday night life?
Promax: We got our own Kefrens Inn with our famous ankh-cross hanging outside.
Zine: Tell us your preferd holiday place.
Promax: At Delta's place (hi Delta!!). This was just a joke. Actually I don't really know. I like to go somewhere I havent been before. But my most hated way of spending my holiday is camping together with my parents. (Thankfully many years since last time). The worst place to do this must be in Sweden.
Zine: Which diskmag do you prefer? Why do you think so?
Promax: All mags are equally bad and boring, except this issue because of a brilliant interview with Pr.... You know the guy who killed Victor. Shame on him!!! By the way did you know that Kefrens has/had a diskmag called Papyrus. The first issue will hopefully be released before the 1st of Infinity!
Zine: How's your situation at school?
Promax: I'm studying computerscience at the Technical University of Denmark. It takes 5 years, so now I only got 4 left to go. It can be boring but I have learned that I don't like 80x86, it has a poor instruction set. Long live Motorola 680x0.
Zine: Why do you think that girls aren't interrested in computers?
Promax: The answer must be found in the way they are brought up. They make clothes for their dolls. We build cars, houses, machines with Techno or Lego for our heros. I have actually met girls that have used their sparetime with a computer programming in machine language. But they can be counted on the right hand of a woodworker.
Zine: Who in Kefrens has a girlfriend?
Promax: You know girlfriends are something that come and go. I don't really think that any of us are going steady (I wouldn't like to call and ask if they had dumped her since last week). But as you also know this hobby is very time consuming.
Zine: What do you think about the Crusaders Euro-Charts?
Promax: If they want a Euro-Chart let them have a Euro-Chart. They should not rate things or people as best but as favorite or most popular. I could name many really good coders etc that wasn't present at the last chart. But that isn't Euro-Chart's fault if I wanted to change that I could begin to vote myself!?!
Zine: What's your opinion about the army?
Promax: Fuck the army!!! The Danish army is shit. A giant waste of time. I was lucky, I didn't have to go. I don't hope I hurt anybody, but this is just how I feel. If I had joined it might have been fun anyway, but I have a lot of other things to do.
Zine: Tell us about the last good party you were on? Any interesting happenings?
Promax: That party must have been the Kef... oh Silents & Red Sector conference two months ago. I did absolutely nothing, except drinking a few beers and talking with Delta and Slayer all the time. If Delta's nose-bleeting is of interest to the public... All in all it was quite interesting. I found out that a guy in dog collar can not, and I repeat, can not be judged by his or her apperence. (hi Slayer).
Zine: List us your favourite three DEMO/CRACKER/TRAINER-crews!
Promax: Always remember there can be only three (inside joke!!). My three favorite groups must be...thinking... DEMO: Red Sector (hi Delta!) CRACKER: Defjam (hello Who!) TRAINER: The Light Circle (hi Duke & Mad Thinker)
Zine: What do you like/hate in the scene?
Promax: The only thing I hate is selling stuff to lamers. The real lamers are the ones who sell the programs. I think that anyone should buy a program if they really like it, if they do so, it might just happen that an even better version show up.
Zine: Tell us Kefrens future-projekts?
Promax: I like singlepart demos like Babbanasen and Mental Hangover because these are not fucking megademos as Slayer would have put it. So maybe when my new assembler (AsmOne) is finished... Most of the members in Kefrens are working on games + other serious programmes (we need the money!) but we'll keep releasing a few demos, when we feel like it!!!
Zine: Some last words?
Promax: Thanks to all our supporters (if we have any, I know we have, I steal all the disks from our poste restante. Joke! They dissapear in the post?). Always remember: If you are Lame join Arcane. To get in contact with us write to: Kefrens - P.O.Box 102 - DK-7800 Skive - DENMARK Sorry out there we get so many letters that it is impossible to answer them all. If your letter is not accepted. We will simply keep disk, letter, anything.
NOTE: This interview was originally made by Zine, but the address of where to send it didn't exist, so after I got the letter back I gave it to Cryptoburners.

Thanx to Promax of Kefrens for this interview. It was made quite some time ago, but unfortunately it arrived 9 days to late for issue #4, and during that time it has already been in Zines p.o. box for probably a month... But we decided to print it anyway, becuase these questions aren't outdated, and neither is Promax!!! We are looking forward to seeing Promax's next demo, and we in the Fourth Dimension staff wishes Promax and the rest of Kefrens good luck in the future...
