D-tect

In March 1988, in the German city of Lörrach — near the borders of France and Switzerland — three friends, Yankee, Tom, and Chris, founded The Mysterious Team (TMT). However, the group’s trajectory changed dramatically just eight months later. In November of that year, Yankee was arrested by the police and withdrew from all scene activities. His departure dealt a significant blow to TMT and ultimately led to the group’s dissolution.

According to an article published in their own disk magazine Hack-Mag #01, D-tect officially emerged in January 1989. If accurate, this would make Music-Steve's MegaTrax the group’s very first release.

One of D-tect’s standout contributions to the scene was Hack-Mag, a disk magazine that gained considerable recognition. While popular, it also drew some criticism for including articles in German — a practice that continued through to the magazine’s final issue, issue #07, released in November 1991.

Beyond their legal demo scene work, D-tect also released various trainers and a handful of cracks throughout 1991. However, by 1992, both their legal and illegal output had begun to decline. Their final appearance came in December 1992, when they submitted the intro D-cadence to the intro competition at The Party II. It placed 13th and marked the group’s final release.
