Party report from Somewhere in Holland 3

Those who ignored a giant rave weekend in Berlin, the great weather, South Sealand party in Denmark and holidays in general had a pleasent weekend in the southwest of Holland.

The organizers really put a lot of time in searching for a hall that was big enough, reachable and fullfilled the needs to be suitable as a computer-party. They really succeeded. Maybe the hall was even a bit too big for the relatively small amount of visitors. Please notice that wasn't TOO few. There were more than enough nice people to really make your stay worthwhile.

Flying high?

While other parties sometimes suffer from aggresive dunk people wandering at the party, or right outside the partyplace, there were no problems with drunk people at all at this party. The Dutch law on drugs probably had quite a lot to do with that... Under the high ceiling of the hall there was a strange kind of haze and the air smelled a bit sweet most of the time. Especially the Italian visitors used the oppurtunity to try out every kind of weed sold in Roosendaal.

The organizers promised good cleaning service of the available lavatories and toilets. And it WAS clean, except for the last few hours at the party where the cleaning-personnel obviously had enough of their work. But overall you could do your thing on the toilets without having to worry about weird diseases popping up in the days after the party. There WAS a lack of toilet paper though.

Competition time!

Dreamer won the musiccompo and not Supernao like in the last SIH. Supernao only competed in the multichannel compo. Dreamer competed with a big piece of classical music and the maestro thanked for the honour by giving a speach on stage - in Polish!

The Axis people were obviously not happy with the sudden comback of the Melon conspiracy. "Why weren't we number two?" a slightly frustrated Anthony/Axis said after being beaten in the demo competition by Melon Dezign's Baygon. Maybe originality also counts these days Anthony?

The polish visitor sticked to the new trend in compos at parties. Lazur won the third prize in the graphics compo but didn't even knew he was competing! But he was quite happy to hear it when the "bringer", Dreamer, phoned and told him.

Roosendaal itself had some interesting places to go, even though the amount of hangouts being 'cool-enough' is rather small. That's what you get when one of your reporters is spoiled with Amsterdam's places. A place worth mentioning here is the disco 'G-spot' which offered average music but a stylish girl serving our beers at the bar. She was especially appreciated by the reporting team when she offered a round of alcohol to us free of charge.

Sweating?

The sleepinghall was of excellent quality, even though the temperature at certain moments rose to absolutely abnormal hights. But if you didn't mind sweating a bit there were enough possibilites to gain some rest.

"And remember: We Love You" was the motto for SIH 95. For most people attending the event, the warm feelings seemed "mutual" - and more than just a one-weekend stand!

SIH 95 was definately one of the most fun parties ever, in Holland atleast, but the organizers have a long way to go to be able to compete with eg. the no.1 summerparty Assembly. Still, our final line is simple: RAW will be Somewhere in Holland next year! Will you?
