We (Case/D-TECT, Spider/D-TECT, XACT/Supplex, Aljechin/Coma) started our journey to the Cebit at 6 'o clock in the morning of the 16.3.91 (Saturday). After a few hours of a funny carjourney we arrived fresh'n'funny at the Cebit. It was early in the morning but already as full as a whore-house. We parked the BMW and went in. As we came to the Commodore-corner the wall was white! Really! It was white like a piece of (unused) toilet-paper. But this should change fast. Slowly more and more people came and then it started to be funny. After some time there was suddenly a restlessness. And before anybody knew what was happening, Satanic Slaughter/Fairlight and a guy called E605 (I think) from Tarkus-Team started a nice fight (nice in the meaning of a little bit harmless). It somehow remembered me at the last Cebit-fight (Coke/ex-RSI vs ???/Storm). Look somewhere in the Hack-Mag for digitized Pictures of the fight. I asked Satanic Slaughter for the reasons of this fight and he told me that E605 of Tarkus Team was talking bullshit about friends (Coke/UFO,...) and that Tarkus Team are (wordly) Public Domain crackers. I don't know if that's true, but I'm only publishing the opinions of the guys I'm talking to. But let's go on. As always after hours the fight was done some irritated looking policemans came and talked to some people and had a look into some bags. Commodore put some guards in front of the wall and maybe they thought this will help to prevent anything. Well. I only know, that it doesn't helped to prevent that the wall was looking like a XXX (censored) at the end of the bit. RCF/D-TECT and I were walking around the commodore-stall as we saw three friendly looking policemans standing around and talking to each other. I (Spider) didn't thought at something bad and took my photo-camera and made a photo of that three stooges. And suddenly the one cop, which ones face I had in front of my camera as I snapshot them, went wild and wanted the whole film from me! At that point of time I already had made nearly 29 (!!) photos on that film including the fight, portraits of friends, the Cebit and much more ... and then this cop comes and wants my film!! I told him, that I didn't know it was forbidden to take photos of any police-man and he tried to tell me something about a law, that says it is forbidden to do! At least, the two other cops (nice guys!) tried to pull him back from me and some dudes from Commodore also came and told the cop to stop nerving the freaks coz they did make photos of us, too (thanks man). And so our super-rambo-cop cooled down a little and asked me for my identification-card (but he asked like "Where's your living license?") and I told him that I'm still 15 (hey, that's no joke...!) and showed him my Moped-license. After some hours of looking and checking my license he hand it back to me and told me "If I should see my picture in any magazine, and even if it's a school-magazine, it will have big consequences for you!". I was really impressed. I really don't know why some cops are getting wild so fast. They sometimes really think, they are something like halfgods I think. It was really funny!! But let's continue. We talked to lot's of old contacts and made new friends. After 3' o clock (pm) the biggest part of lamers pissed off, and the Elite waited for the beginning of the party. The guys from Spreadpoint spreaded their invitations all around and time passed fast while talking to all the friends. Venom made the staircase to the parking-place below looking like after an explosion in a toilet and the whole scene tried to be the one who could place their sticker highest. Style could place their sticker at the top I think, followed from Spreadpoint but we left the Cebit at 5 'o clock and so I don't know if anybody came higher. After our attempt to meet the others from D-TECT after leaving the Cebit, failed, we 4 entered Case's car and tried to find the party place. On this trip we saw many other places, too. Hamburg,... Frankfurt,... Ankara,... Ugnasa,... and after a long time of helpless driving around (we couldn't use the map, coz we where somewhere outside it) we stopped at a gas station and Case asked for the way. All in all - at 6 'o clock we arrived at the party place (it was a Paddel-Club...) and moved in. We payed our entrance fee (6 DM with invitation, 10 DM without, 0 DM if U bring your Amiga and -1 DM if U bring a A3000!) and entered. It was quite empty as we arrived at the party, but that changed fast. We talked to lot's of people and met nearly everybody from the Cebit. Gawd, was it full and sticky! There where soemthing around 200-250 guys hopping around the party place and I think there where 30 Comps connected. All in all, I think it was one of the better exhibition-partys. I had a closer look at the invitation, and it seems like I was the only one who did that. The invitation said, "X-COPY NOT ALLOWED!"... hmm... but who cared? Nearly on every comp was running only one programm... XCOPY III! So whatta do? Nothing. Because of lot's of different opinions and thoughts about the Cebit-day I started asking some guys about their opinions and impressions of the day. There are many strange and funny answers, but remember... the whole party was for fun... so here are some impressions: "My feets are aching and I'm sweating like a pig!! Also, Spreadpoint has a virus called "Erkaeltung" and everybody is eating tablets like smarties." - Ucom/Spreadpoint "I can't find an extension-cable on this lame party!" (Spider: Later in the evening he found one...) - Schorse/The Special Brothers: "The Drink-service on this party is 'unter aller Sau'!" (English: very bad.) - Holly/Partners In Crime "It was nice to be here, We'll meet us next year!" - Rip "There were too many cops and the painting of the wall should be allowed and Commodore should spread eddings and sprays." - Ascot/Supplex "The best where the two Supplex logo's on the wall..." - Free Agent/Supplex "The entrance fee is too high. The new TSB-Editor is released... all in all we have fun!" - Tai Pan/United Forces "Everything expect of the Amiga section was good on the Cebit. The Party-fee is too high and it's shit, that you can't bring your own drinks." - Riff-Raff "The Cebit was no hit... the party is too expensive... the CDTV show was a joke... there are too many new faces and it's fucking hard to find a hotelroom in this city." - Riff-Raff "Droben ists zu warm und draußen ziehts!" (English: Up there it's too warm, and outside it's too cold.) - Jaxx/Flash Productions "The best Exhibition-party ever." - Cocaine/Spreadpoint "I'm awake 40 hours now!" - Londo/Spice "Lame, but no shame... On the Cebit where too much cops!" - Dr. Martens/Betrayal "It's very funny, but here are too many people." - Protogenic "The Party is lame and too expensive!" - Whiteheat/Tristar (he was 1 of the guys who didn't enter the party because of the entrance-fee) "Much stress, much beer, too much lamers, funny persons... Call Touchdown BBS!" - Coke/United Forces "I think it's childish to write names on the wall. It shows the scene as a crowd of children and Commodore has to pay the whole wall. Lamer than writing is spraying, coz it is much harder to remove sprayed names, than stickers or edding-written names. - Buckaroo/Bonzai "I've got toothache!" - Hollywood "It's funny here!" - Satanic Slaughter/Fairlight "Interesting people, nice fight! ... Call Pleasure Paradise!" - Case/D-TECT "Cebit was cool, the Party is ok but the party room is too small and there are too less computers!" - Strike/Frantic "Nothing." - Tom Copper/Coma and so he keeps on using it.... So. This where some impressions. And if you haven't been there (I can't imagine...) now you should have a good picture of the Cebit '91 and the Cebit Party. If the sentences of the interviewed guys should be changed a little bit, this is because I had to write the answers in german and on little pieces of papers - sorry! Thanks must go to Commodore for helping me with that mad cop and for letting me on the top of the Commodore-stall for taking photos...!!! For our Demo-interested friends: The 1st place was Addonics Fractale Demo - the Coder even didn't know that it has took part on the competition! 2nd place was the Spreadpoint Demo and the 3rd price was the Crosynisus Demo.
