| Trix: |
Ay Ay Sir, I believe most people know who you are but please introduce yourself to our dear (?) readers. |
| Axel: |
Well, ola senior! My ugly name is AKSEL from that banana-group named BRAINSTORM and I'm its musician for approximately 2.5 years. I love bananas and music. In addition I was also a member of the ZINE-staff and since I like writing articles very much I'm now a member of the RAW-blokes INC. Well, that's it!? Not!!!! I'm 17 years old (?), 1.88m tall and still going to school like most other human beings. |
| Trix: |
What kind of music do you listen to and name your favourite bands. |
| Axel: |
In my case it totally depends to the shape I am in. But I can say that I like everything across MTV so one can say that in each style of music there is a group I like to listen to. Some groups and persons: James Brown, Patricia Kaas, Janis Joplin, J.M.Jarre, Roxette, Elton John, Primus(!), Eric Clapton, De La Soul, Dr.Alban, So what?, Vangelis, Nirvana, Bob Marley(!), Chris Huelsbeck, Brad Fiedel(T2), Supertramp and loads more. But now over to something completely different? |
| Trix: |
Correct.. Time to move on, do you have any hobbies apart from music? |
| Axel: |
Yes, I play the guitar....Heheegoggog! Hm, I sometimes manage to beat Tin/BRS in a tennis match, then we often squeeze ourselves into a local cinema and third but biggest non-music hobby is making fun of other people. Come to THE PARTY II in Aars and you will see! |
| Trix: |
For me the scene is quite boring nowadays coz some of the people whom I knew earlier on are no longer a part of the scene. What do you think about the scene nowadays? |
| Axel: |
Everyone is talking about the death of the scene, but in my opinion one can not say that it is. There are always new teams coming, just take Andromeda as an example. OK, old chaps are leaving but somehow it doesn't matter. On the other side it would be very interesting to move the scene to the upcoming FALCON 030 from ATARI! This would open us new dimensions and give us new possibilities, eh? I'd like to hear other people's opinions about it! But anyway, the Amiga will keep it going for a damn long time. Just have a look at the good old C64. And apart from the demoscene, many guys are starting to do games and so it's very funny to see other chaps on game shows etc. So I think that it's just getting "bigger" in its range. One thing that disappoints me is that groups only seem to release stuff on parties these days. STOP IT!! Because THAT IS what is ruining the scene. Amen! |
| Trix: |
Lately some lame rumours were spread that ZINE was dying, what happend and what's up with Brainstorm these days? Maybe an updated memberlist would be nice. |
| Axel: |
Harghargaagag! ZINE is DEAD??? Wait and SEE! Most of the BRAINSTORM lads are doing exams and going to school or univerity. This takes a lot of time but still there is time left for scene activities, like you will see in the future!
The glory members of BRAINSTORM:
The Finnish division was kissed goodbye some time ago. No foreign division except from Droid in Denmark anymore. |
| Trix: |
Aha, so does Brainstorm have any plans for future productions? |
| Axel: |
Productionens Futuritum? DAAA! And really a lot, actually:
| - |
After MUSICLAND 1 will follow MUSICLAND 2, to be released 2-3 weeks after MUSICLAND 1! |
| - |
Something completely different: FINETUNED, third musicdisk, the show you can't afford to miss?! Gnakgnak! Graphics by TIN, Code by ROB ROSE and Music by EGGSELL (hehe). A TIN & ACKSEL Design! To be released in the middle of January. |
| - |
Watch out for SECUNDUS-PI! After the tremendous success of our PRIMUS series and the SECUNDUS-PI PREVIEW. THE demo might come sooner than expected! |
| - |
At THE PARTY II in Aars, Grubi and I will introduce you to the preview of our hopefully soon coming CD! This happens in cooperation with the organizing staff. |
| - |
In addition a lot of games are under construction in our sterilized top secret labs. NO details, the rivals are watching! |
| - |
And you might also expect a stunning trackdemo from us in 1993. Just wait and see it!!! Working men: ROB ROSE, OLI, TIN and me. |
| - |
Finally we hope to release some smal stuff like intros. We'll see... |
|
| Trix: |
Now over to something else. You visited THE PARTY in Aars last year. Well, now you have the chance to visit the biggest party ever. Yez, I am of course talking about THE PARTY 1992 (Part II, THE FINAL!) in Aars/Denmark 27-29 Dec. Are you coming again this year? |
| Axel: |
Why should I? Paahhh.....hehekloink!! Of course we'll come... BRAINSTORM will be there, together with an X-Mas present! Following guys (or more) will surely be there: ROB ROSE, TIN, OLI, ORLANDO, TRUXTON, PEACE, GRUBI, CHESTER, SKY, DROID, FLY, SANTA CLAUS, BANANA JOE, RICK DANGEROUS, POPEYE, MICKY and ME! My sick brain(storm) has surely forgotten someone, I feel it!!! Alalalalong alalalong long li long long long!
Did you guys up there hope we wouldn't come? Hagaga! Gnoinggg! Bad luck! And here a message to everyone owning an Amiga or any other machine: PACK YOUR BAG - GET THERE... ** THE P.A.R.T.Y. II ** !!! SEE YOU IN AARS !!! |
| Trix: |
Tell briefly your opinion about these musicians... |
| Axel: |
| AUDIOMONSTER: |
Uff...Great music with lots of wierd styles, that's what I like. One of my favourite musicians. |
| 4-MAT: |
Yes, Matthew. His stuff is pretty well done, especially the gamemusic! A musician with lots of "up'n'downs" in the past and present. That is reflected in his music, too I think. |
| JESTER: |
A very remarkable style and I like his work very much. Anyway, in my opinion Jesterday was quite good but not too good but it's a matter of taste. Very disco-like, he could do more styles of music. |
| MOBY: |
Hmm.. I haven't heard much from him lately. But his style is very great, especially his variations in the song itself. I missed his music the last time. |
| NUKE: |
Nuke is very ok when it comes to the melodies. On the other hand I miss his variations IN the songs and OF the songs. His last songs really do not sound very different from eachother and that's a pity. The songs on LEGALIZE IT was absolutely fab (Velomatrix rules, Nuke!). |
| TIP & MANTRONIX: |
Very much criticized musicians, I think, but criticized wrong! The harmony in the songs is very massive and that's why I like their music. Impressive melodies and structures! |
| HEATBEAT: |
YEAH! This is also one of my favourites. Very groovy music with brilliant solos. Sometimes a bit short songs, unfortunately. But what ever he does, he does it right! I belong to his fanclub. |
| JESPER KYD: |
The elderly songs like "Caroline" or the stuff on SOUND OF SILENTS was in my opinion his golden time. The latest songs are pretty techno-influenced. I think he lost his fab melodies. Or will they return in the Sound of Silents 2? That's the question! |
|
| Trix: |
Do you work for any software company? |
| Axel: |
Well, we are actually in references with one of the biggest software companies in the UK. Reason: A game we want to start developing for the SNES!! But we don't want to give any information who this company will be because nothing is sure yet! The SOUND WIZARDS staff is working with different companies at the time being and we will step into the PC market around christmas. PC-offers came from GREMLIN GRAPHICS, OCEAN, DOMARK, 21ST CENT. ENTERTAINMENT and more. But again: Nothing is sure yet. We will keep you up-to-date! By the way, new members in SOW are MATTHEW "4-MAT" and GREG. Grubi is also still in SOW. |
| Trix: |
Would you like to work with music in a future job or do you have other plans for the future? |
| Axel: |
Yes, I would. After school we try to enter into the gamebusiness by joining any company as a whole team (BRS PROD. and SOUND WIZARDS) if possible or we will open an own company. Grubi and I will do a CD the next months and we will do the music for the next info show from the Swiss pay-TV channel, TELECLUB. But this will be in 1-2 years. If this shouldn't work out fine alltogether (what we don't expect) TIN and I could try to open a company for commercials (Radio-,TV- Mag- and Cinemacommercials). But who knows what Pacman will tell us in the future? If that also fails we will better try to open a banana-shop. But our main interest is developing games of a very high standard! |
| Trix: |
Finally, do you have any last words you would like to add now that we have reached the end of this interview? |
| Axel: |
Well, guess not! Just this:
Once upon a time there was a cat
which on was sat!
Afterwards it was flat
but could it be wet?
No one cared
just everyone stared
or would you have dared
if you had cared?
You have to take this poem seriously because otherwise we will come out of your screen to take you for a ride into Musicland where all the musicians come to when they die. But I don't want to bore you with a poem which was inspired by one of Grubi's songs for the CD!
Finally there is to say that answering questions makes always fun especially when it's very late in the evening. All the best for you, Trix, and for the rest of the chubby Stolen Datastaff and may the pizzas always be with you!
SEE YOU ALL AT THE X-MAS PARTY IN AARS/DK! |
| Trix: |
Bananas, Lemons, Melons? Seems like fruits are the new craze..hehe. Ok Ok. Good luck for the future mate and thanks for answering all my questions. |
