Interview
Zine: Once upon a time, you was in Dragons, then the whole group died and you joined Angels, then Skid Row. Tell us some more details.
Corsair: When DRAGONS splitted up, all the members (Corsair, Mister Video & Megablast) went in ANGELS. It was mainly due to calling cards and productions to spread on modem. At this time, ANGELS was really powerfull so we thought it was the right choice. I coded the copper master demo and a nice intro for'em. One week later, Megablast quited the Amiga scene for the PC, and gave us (me & my brother Mister Video) his modem for a while. After 4 weeks, we have finally noticed that ANGELS was a real lame team with no real organisation. The leader even can't speak English and refused to give us calling cards. Then, my brother and I went in CLASSIC together with Foxy. We stayed for one week and joined SKID ROW (The leading force) because Mister Video & Foxy were ready to supply'em with the French originals.
Zine: Were there any good friends in Angels, or why didn't you join Paradox for example?
Corsair: Well, we joined ANGELS because our great friend Foxy was in, because we knew the leader, and because, when Megablast left DRAGONS, there were only 3 members left in Dragons (Mister Video, Moby & Me). We did not join Paradox due to the problems we had in the past with Olivier (in the past (as I was in DIABOLICS), I coded a Phoenix Antidemo, because we had some problems with some Phoenix member (Olivers, Funx...)). Ok, now back to ANGELS. After a while, we discovered some very cool guys in ANGELS: Malzam & Andy (nice meeting at Andy's place), Rabbit, Garp (a very cool guy). In fact, I can say we had a really good time in ANGELS.
Zine: Well, it's known that Angels and Paradox have got a BIG war. What's your opinion about Paradox in general? For example think of this great 'Freddy Is Back' demo.
Corsair: Paradox is (or was, because they don't release a lot of things now) a good group. But I think there are too many lamers in the french section. In France, the active guys are Olivier, Spirit and a little bit Fisc (He is sooo lazy! Hehehe). I think all the other French members are lamers. In the other countries, Paradox has some very good guys like Mayday and Midnight Maniac, Blackhawk, Tic, Luke & Chuck, Swayzar... Freddy is a very good coder, and I particulary like his "Freddy's back" (which was 2nd placed at the Gen4 demo competition (I was 1st heheh!)), but I knew Freddy before he joined PARADOX, and I think he is a cool guy.
Zine: What do you think about group-wars at all? Doesn't it destroy the scene? The most wars are between those 'big' Cracker Groups, have you a reason for this?
Corsair: Wars are very funny I think. It gives people reasons to say what they really think about each others. Sometimes it is stupid, yes, but it also motivates the groups to be the best. Everybody believe wars are between cracker groups but it is not true. It is just because cracker groups are the most productive groups so they can write messages in scrolltext, games... but there are wars between the lame groups too (but we don't hear about it, because they don't release a lot of thing, and because we don't care about!) (for exampel, read the 2nd question, and you will see that even lames groups had their war!)
Zine: Okay, enough war. Let's start with your own work in Skid Row. I heard you're working on a new Seka. What's about this?
Corsair: That's true. I am now working on the masterseka 1.80. This version will be more professional than the others, with lot of menus (83 for the moment), possibility to read powerpacked sources, and full use of the req.library. I think when you will read this article, it should be finished. I will also code a little intro for Skid Row. They are all waiting for it. Hehehe! It should be nice.
Zine: Do you want to sell your assembler as a professional program?
Corsair: No. I have no project with this, because I want everybody to use what I code. And I am not the original coder of the seka, so... Of course, I could start changing the seka code for about 1 year (or more), and I could sell it as a professional version or something like that, but I really have no time to do it.
Zine: And what about new demos from you? Did you stopped at all since your last 'Copper Master'?
Corsair: The Copper Master demo was my last one for a long time. I think after the masterseka and the intro for Skid Row, I will stop my coding activities because I have to pass some very important exams in June, so I must work very hard and will not get enough time to code anything.
Zine: In your old Dragons demo (on the Dragons Megademo) you also used copper. You like to use copper, don't you?
Corsair: That's it guy! I see I really can't hide you anythink! I must admit it, I really like to use copper, just because I began my Amiga code with it! And that's why my first intro (the "cool raster" intro for Diabolics!) was only a little scroll with some cool horizontal coppers effects (oh good, that's so old...). And the copper is one the best advantages of the AMIGA over the lame Atari ST, so we have to use it, to show to the ST-owners what a real computer is! In fact, I use copper, because I have not learn (at school) the right mathematical formules to release the filled-vectors calculations. Anyway I really like the good filled-vectors demo, but I think there is too many lames 3d-demos from beginning coders who just learnd coding... But you know (and I think you saw it in the DRAGONS MEGADEMO), I like blitter too: Don't forget that I was the first to code the unlimited bobs (hehehe)
Zine: So, you haven't any plans to crack or to train games?
Corsair: No. As I told it before, I will stop the Amiga for a long time, so no plans at the moment.
Zine: What do you think in general about cracking and training, in fact you're a member of a cracker-group?
Corsair: Well... Crackers groups are the best and powerfull groups in the scene. I think trainer groups can be very powerfull too if they do a very good job as Setrox and Subway did in the past (but there are not enought of them). Demos groups are cool, but they don't have a lot of power. For example, Scoopex or Red Sector release some very good demos but also some cracks because they know it is important for the reputation.
Zine: Perhaps, you will also do a game in the future. What would you say, if Skid Row will crack it?
Corsair: Haha, that's a very good questions! I am not interested in coding a game because of time, but even if I would have as many time as I want, I don't think I would code a game, because the AMIGA legal scene is very poor (shops really don't sell a lot of originals, due to some lamers who spead the wares just as they've uploaded it... So everybody can get the stuff very quick and they don't buy originals...). And if I had time, I think I would better code some little tools or continue the demo coding!
Zine: What do you think about selling cracked software?
Corsair: I think there are two kind of software sellers. The ones who sells very hot wares, so it is very bad because software company go bankrupt due to this activity. The others who sells 1 or 2 weeks wares are okay for me. They do not destroy the market. All the big groups must sell software because the originals are not free (or only in our dreams...). They need this money. I am not totally against that. I think lamers who are not in groups have to pay for software because they bring absolutely nothing. If they want games they buy originals or they must buy software to the real elite pirates.
Zine: You have a modem, what do you think about the whole modem-scene?
Corsair: Yes. I have an HST USR courier 14.4 V42 bis modem. Modem is really great. It is the elite way of swapping. Modem scene is good if you have cards of course (or if you really got a lot of money for your phonebill!). But that's not a problem for Skid Row (Hello Corpo, Bandit & Teacher).
Zine: Anyway, 'CROSAIR' is a Swiss airline. Where do you find your name?
Corsair: Of course, not from this company (which I really don't know at all). I found my handle as I was reading an airplanes book about the 2nd world war planes. The Corsair was an american plane and I thought the name was cool.
Zine: Okay, tell us you favorites...

Zine: You're living in France. Do you like to be a part of the French scene?
Corsair: Yeahhhhh. It is soooo funny because French guys are so lame! I have some real friends like Foxy/Skidrow, Annakin/Concept, Fiscy/Paradox. French scene is a roumor scene and it is so funny to hear all the bullshit from the lamers about the elite guys! Just read the article concerning the Gen4 demo competion.
Zine: How do you feel to be at the top with your group and with your demos?
Corsair: I feel good. Don't worry. Anyway, I am not the best coder at all.
Zine: So, we've reached the end of this interview. Some messages at the end?
Corsair: Flame the lame! Just one thing: A lamer called Pennywise told on some BBS I am a lamer. Well, I don't think so ... and you? Thanks to Skid Row members for being so cool! Seriously, I think the demo scene is now going down, so here is a message to every coder: Keep on coding only good demos guyz!
Zine: Again we've finnished it. The last word from Corsair is:
Corsair: Use my masterseka 1.80 and have fun with it!!!
